Military-Civilian Health Security Summit 2024

The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Australian Defence Force, and the Defence Threat Reduction Agency jointly hosted the third Military-Civilian Health Security Summit, which took place in Sydney Australia, and was in conjunction to the third Global Health Security Conference (18-21 June 2024) at the Sydney International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

This MCHSS will consist of keynote speeches, panel presentations and breakout discussion, combined with workshops designed to facilitate future opportunity for multilateral and multi-sectoral engagement among regional partners on health security. The event will focus on multilateral civilian, defense, and security partnerships in health security, with a special focus on military-civilian technical coordination and collaboration for global health security.

Australian Civil-Military Centre Focus Groups

The Australian Civil-Military Centre and the Centre for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies are conducting focus groups into research project ‘Practical considerations for the use of militaries during public health emergencies, and outbreaks’.

The outcome of this work will result in a policy addition to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs refresh of the Oslo Guidelines on the Use of Military and Civil Defence Assets in Disaster Relief and an operational chapter in the UN Civil-Military Coordination Field Handbook.

About Sydney Banner

All visitors to Australia are required to hold a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia. In order to visit Australia for MCHSS and GHS2024 there are a number of different visa options available to you. The appropriate visa will depend, amongst other things, on your purpose for visiting Australia. We recommend you apply at least a month in advance just in case the approval process is delayed. 

MCHSS and conference delegates are eligible to request letters once their registration is finalised.
